Flagstaff History: County sheriff bought an automobile
1886 — The Champion makes its appearance this week under an entirely new proprietorship and management, the property having been bought from Mr. W.E. Lockwood, sole owner, who has leased the press and printing material to Mr. J.W. Spofford, the former manager. Having previously been termed “Independent,” it has now “come down off the fence” and will be straight Democratic.
